On duty tonight. AARGH. Can't

On duty tonight. AARGH. Can't leave room for long periods of time.

I'm getting sick today too. You know that tickle that you get in the back of your throat right before the onset of a bad cold? That's what I have now. Hurts to swallow. Annoying. "Halls" Cough Drops work...I wonder if "Mentho-Lyptus" is actually a narcotic...mmm...narcotic.

Saw "Chinatown" today in Film as Art today. It's an excellent movie, with an engrossing plot and some darn good characters. Jack Nicholson's ability to create a compelling character is unmatched in film or theatre today. The details of the plot keep coming at you up until the end...you really don't fully know what's happening until the very last scene. It comes highly reccomended.

I found out today that I'll be the backstage assistant stage manager for "A Midsummer Night's Dream." I'm excited; its the first show where I don't have to touch a lighting instrument, although I'll definitely help Pat and Mary as they need it. Lighting has always been the biggest stress for me: I'm the first to know that I don't know what I'm doing in lighting. I mean, I can plug it in, and patch it to a dimmer, and then program it into a lighting cue, but the artistry behind lighting, I fear, escapes me. I've found that it's a lot more than just pointing an instrument where you want it; there's a lot more to consider than that. I want to continue to do the lighting for other shows; I just need a break. I want to learn the artistry behind it.

Anyhow, if you're looking to kill some time, check this out: Something Awful.com's Worst Childrens Books Contest Winners. They're all hilarious; my favorite one, I think, is the "Ass Kicking Waiting to Happen," followed secondly by "Alexander and the No Good, Terrible, Horrible Hangover." And you can't beat the response: TV Shows that will never be made.

I found out today that people may actually be reading this journal. I really didn't think it'd be that interesting. So shout-outs to those who are reading (if I remember, that's just michelle... :) )

Too much class tomorrow. Too much class.

4 weeks till Spring Break.
